Christine Ames

Managing Director

Christine is responsible for Con Mech’s strategic direction and takes a hands-on approach to the day to day running of all three of its main offerings, Blademaster, Heat Treatment and Precision with a special interest in health and safety and is IOSH qualified.
Christine is a director of Con Mech Group and non-executive director at sister company Henry Williams, holder of PgCert and PgDip in Management, having previously gained extensive experience in senior roles in finance, operations and HR. With over 30 years of industry experience, Christine is focused on ensuring that all her knowledge is combined with that of the rest of the team to deliver outstanding results for Con Mech’s customers, staff and owners.

Sam Haygarth


Sam joined Con Mech back in 2013. Over the last 20 years, Sam has developed a solid working knowledge of the international engineering industry. Having worked in customer-facing roles for major players in yellow goods and aerospace with a Bachelor of Arts in French and German, she has been instrumental in the development of new business and account management and has ensured their success through her excellent project management skills and attention to detail.

Nick Kelly

Operations Director

Nick joined us in 2012 and has considerable experience in supply chain development and management and is qualified for MCIPS, a BA in Marketing and IOSH Managing Safely. Having worked extensively in the automotive and aerospace sectors before joining Con Mech, Nicks experience in lean manufacturing techniques and inventory management makes him ideally placed to manage both the operations process, planning, control and performance improvement of the business.

Matthew Williamson


Matthew has worked for Con Mech Engineers since 2013 and was brought in to strengthen the heat treatment team. Matthew is a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and is also IOSH qualified in Managing Safely and Legionella Management for Responsible Persons. He has considerable experience within the heat treatment industry, having worked for significant heat treatment companies before joining Con Mech. His strengths are in metallurgy and quality and he allows us to enhance our reputation as one of the UK’s best heat treatment providers. He is also the company’s EMR.

Ann Hadden

Support Services Manager

Ann has over 30 years of experience and an excellent track record in the management of all aspects of business relating to administration, finance and HR and this has equipped her to play a major role in the development of Con Mech. Day to day Ann ensures that we have the tools we need to assess our performance and maintain our customer focus.

Kelly Homan


Kelly joined us in 1997 she is our resident expert in export procedures and documentation. Despite advances in technology and communication, the world is still a big place! Kelly has all the skills required to ensure that the materials and products we deal with move around the globe in a streamlined, efficient way. Kelly is responsible for managing our network of logistics suppliers and partners and is adept at finding the right solutions for a wide variety of transport challenges. She is also involved in customer support, ensuring that customer inquiries are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner, enhancing the customer experience.

Derek Neil

Finance Director

With over 20 years of experience as Con Mech’s Financial Director, he has the responsibility for all financial and IT systems. He is a fellow of the ACCA and has an OND (Honours) in Computer Science. Derek spent five years with KPMG where he worked on accounting, auditing and management of consultancy projects for both Blue Chip and small business clients. Derek then moved into industry and has worked at senior levels within manufacturing, engineering, contracting and retail business.

Andrew Huntrod

Production/Quality Engineer

Andrew joined us back in 2015 as a Mechanical Engineer Apprentice gaining experience throughout the manufacturing processes before progressing to Production/Quality Engineer. His efforts were recognised when being named Apprentice of the Year by his further education college. Andrew has an HNC in Mechanical Engineering, IOSH Managing Safely, Level 3 Improvement Technician as well as a qualified internal auditor. Andrew is a key member of Engineering and with his extensive knowledge of all areas of our business makes him the ‘go to’ person.

Giles Collett

Junior Production/Test House Engineer

Giles joined us in 2017 as an apprentice gaining experience throughout the manufacturing processes before progressing to Junior Production/Test House Engineer. He has a natural ability to use software products such as Solidworks for design projects, Datafile and Powermill and was heavily involved in assisting us develop new products to broaden our capabilities. He is currently developing his material testing skills in our UKAS accredited Laboratory.

Andrew Liddle

Quality Engineer

Andrew joined us earlier in 2022 and has experience in the maintenance of quality management systems to ISO 9001 standards and is qualified BSc Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering and is accredited City and Guilds in Legionella Role of Responsible Persons and IOSH Managing Safely Having worked in the demanding oil and gas sector before joining Con Mech, Andrew’s experience in quality, process improvement, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor and project management make him ideally placed to assist in the management of both quality and the operations process to improve the performance of the business.
