With over 20 years of experience as Con Mech’s Financial Director, Derek has the responsibility for all financial and IT systems. He is a fellow of the ACCA and has an OND (Honours) in Computer Science. Derek spent five years with KPMG where he worked on accounting, auditing and management of consultancy projects for both Blue Chip and small business clients. Derek then moved into industry, and has worked at senior levels within manufacturing, engineering, contracting and retail business.

Sam joined Con Mech back in 2013. Over the last 26 years, Sam has developed a solid working knowledge of the international engineering industry. Having worked in customer-facing roles for major players in yellow goods and aerospace with a Bachelor of Arts in French and German, she has been instrumental in the development of new business and account management and has ensured their success through her excellent project management skills and attention to detail.

Nick joined us in 2012 and has considerable experience in supply chain development and management and is qualified for MCIPS, a BA in Marketing and IOSH Managing Safely. Having worked extensively in the automotive and aerospace sectors before joining Con Mech, Nick’s experience in lean manufacturing techniques and inventory management makes him ideally placed to manage both the operations process, planning, control and performance improvement of the business.

Matthew has worked for Con Mech Engineers since 2013 and was brought in to strengthen the heat treatment team. Matthew is a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours and is also IOSH qualified in Managing Safely and Legionella Management for Responsible Persons. He has considerable experience within the heat treatment industry, having worked for significant heat treatment companies before joining Con Mech. His strengths are in metallurgy and quality and he allows us to enhance our reputation as one of the UK’s best heat treatment providers. He is also the company’s EMR.

Kim has over 20 years of accounts and HR experience at Con Mech, and deals with all aspects of the business related to finance and HR. Kim works closely with our Financial Director and is also the leader of our Better Health at Work scheme.

Kelly joined us in 1997 and is our resident expert in export procedures and documentation. Despite advances in technology and communication, the world is still a big place! Kelly has all the skills required to ensure that the materials and products we deal with move around the globe in a streamlined, efficient way. Kelly is responsible for managing our network of logistics suppliers and partners and is adept at finding the right solutions for a wide variety of transport challenges. She is also involved in customer support, ensuring that customer enquiries are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner, enhancing the customer experience.

Andrew joined us back in 2015 as a Mechanical Engineer Apprentice, gaining experience throughout the manufacturing processes before progressing to Production / Quality Engineer. His efforts were recognised when being named Apprentice of the Year by huis further education college. Andrew has an HNC in Mechanical Engineering, IOSH Managing Safely, Level 3 Improvement Technician as well as a qualified internal auditor. Andrew is a key member of Engineering, and with his extensive knowledge of all business areas makes him the ‘go to’ person.

Andrew joined us in 2022 and has experience in the maintenance of quality management systems to ISO 9001 standards and is qualified with a BSc in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering and is accredited City and Guilds in Legionella Role of Responsible Persons, and IOSH Managing Safely. Having worked in the demanding oil and gas sector before joining Con Mech, Andrew’s experience in quality, process improvement, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor and project management make him ideally placed to assist in the management of both quality and the operations processes to improve the performance of the business.

Giles joined us in 2017 as an apprentice, gaining experience throughout the manufacturing processes before progressing to Production/Test House Engineer. He has a natural ability to use software products such as Solidworks for design projects, Datafile and Powermill and was heavily involved in assisting us develop new products to broaden our capabilities. He is currently developing his material testing skills in our UKAS accredited Laboratory.
